I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO SEE ME WHEN I’M INVISIBLE

Mark 10:47-48 (KJV)
47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.
48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

Bartimaeus was blind. He was not deemed important. If anything, he was regarded to be in the way. He probably felt useless. He could accomplish very little without others help. He needed a change that only God could bring about. Then Jesus passed by.
His Cries

1. He cried out for Jesus
When we feel alone, often it is because we are lacking closeness to our Savior. He alone is our satisfaction. We can fill our life up with things that keep us busy, but they leave us empty and alone. He heard Jesus was near, so he did everything in his power to access him. He shouted as loud as he could. When he was told to be quiet he cried “the more a great deal.” Today, we have immediate access to Christ. It’s sad we often push away the one who can meet our need.

2. He cried for mercy
He could have asked for sight or help to get off the streets, but he asked for mercy. He was asking God not to give him what he deserved. He realized he didn’t deserve anything good. When we are away from God, we can feel like God withholds good things from us, but in reality, he is withholding the bad that we really deserve.
His Change

Mark 10:51-52 (KJV)
51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.

1. He spoke to Christ
He was brought to Jesus and Jesus asked what he wanted. The man replied, “my sight.” When there was a relationship with Christ there wasn’t crying out. He was on speaking terms with the Savior. He now had open communication with almighty God. When we go to God humbly and repentant, open communication to God is restored. That is when God gave him his sight.

2. He followed Christ
He didn’t stay on the street asking for money. He followed Christ. There was an immediate change in his life. He gained a relationship, an identity and a purpose.
If your struggling in your walk with Christ, I encourage you to put everything else away and pursue God with your whole heart.

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart
