I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO BLESS FAITHFULNESS
Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
It is hard to be patient. Once we have a goal or a desire, we want to accomplish it as fast as we can. There is nothing wrong with that, if we realize that God does not always work that way. God does not speak favorably here of “he that maketh haste to be rich”. This word “rich” does not just mean money. It means accumulation or to grow. God says it takes time to grow and to build something.
One reason God does not want us hasty about things is because we might be tempted to cut corners. We can become so hasty to accomplish something that we sacrifice character to do so. Got also knows that when we are hasty to get something, we can tend to obsess about it. It can get to the point that it controls our life. We can also want something so badly, that we will end up making very unwise decisions in the process. In fact, it very well may be that what we desire is not what is best for us, but we are blinded when we move too quickly. God wants us to slow down, think about it, consider everything, and trust God in the process.
God says that “a faithful man shall abound with blessings”. “Faithful” is the key word. Being consistent, cautious, wise, stable, and thoughtful are very rare qualities. God is saying that if you will take your time, be faithful, be consistent, and don’t get to hasty or ahead of yourselves, that you will be blessed. Consider the long-haul. Quit fluctuating up and down emotionally, physically, and materialistically. Just determine to be faithful, and to be wise every step of the way. After everything is said and done, God’s blessings will be evident all over your life and family.
