I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO BEAR US (part 2)
Deuteronomy 1:30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; 31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. 32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
Moses recalls what God has done in a few specific places:
* IN EGYPT
• God FOUGHT for them
• God FREED them
* IN THE WILDERNESS
1. God PROTECTED them
Just like a parent would do for their child, Moses said that God “bare thee, as a man doth bear his son”. God opened the waters of the Red Sea when they were facing eminent death. Seems impossible, but with God, “all things are possible”. God protects us in incredible ways, and yet most of His protections are not even seen. The parting of the Red Sea gets all the attention, but that is no more a miracle than what God does for each of us every day. We pay attention to the parting of a sea, but we miss most of the protection God gives right under our noses.
2. God PROVIDED for them
Manna from Heaven, water from the rock, cloud by day, and pillar of fire by night. God had it all organized and taken care of. What they needed, He provided. I know as a husband and father, I would do anything to provide a need in my family. Moses says that God was a providing parent.
3. God PROGRESSED them
“In all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.” This whole process and journey, Moses says, God has been faithful and brought us here. I encourage you to stop for a few minutes today and consider what God has brought you through, and where God has brought you to. Take time to thank Him today. The journey is not always easy, but God has always been faithful. These people complained before, during, and after God’s care of them. May we not make the same mistakes.
