I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO BEAR US (part 3)
Deuteronomy 1:30 The LORD your God which goeth before you, he shall fight for you, according to all that he did for you in Egypt before your eyes; 31 And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place. 32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God,
1. “The LORD your God which goeth before you”
This means that God PRECEDES us. He makes the way before we even get there.
2. “He shall fight for you”
This means that God PROTECTS us.
3. “all that He did for you in Egypt before your eyes”
This means that God PROVIDES for us. Through every trial, famine, pestilence, and barricade, God provided whatever was needed.
4. “the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son”
This means that God PARENTS us. Children are not easy to deal with sometimes. They rebel against you, think they know more than you, do not appreciate what you do, and think the grass is greener on the other side. Children are difficult at times, just like we are to God, and yet God “bears” us.
5. “in all the way that ye went”
This means that God is PERFECT in His care for us. “All” is the key word here. God never failed them. He went with them “all” the way.
“32 Yet in this thing ye did not believe the LORD your God”
What a statement. Does this convict you? It sure does convict me. Here is a list of all the things that God has done completely and consistently, and yet for some reason, they did not believe God would do this thing. That’s believers for you. We are called believers, we have never had reason not to believe God, and yet we don’t believe. You would think people that are literally called “believers” would believe. That is what should set us apart. The fact that we believe, by faith, that our God will do what He said He would do. No doubt, no hesitation, and no limitation. I ask you today, has God not been faithful? Has God not been consistent? Has God not proven Himself? Has God ever failed you? If not, then let’s be “believers” and not “doubters”.
