I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO BUILD THE HOUSE (part 1)

Psalm 127:1. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:”

What a great verse. It is a familiar one. And yet there might be a few things in this verse that we might not have thought of.

I believe with all my heart that God created the heavens and the earth. God built mountains, designed landscapes, and crafted continents. However, I do not recall many times where we are told that He built very many houses. Seems a bit beneath Him. What is one house as compared to creation. Is not that He couldn’t, but it does appear that He is busy doing greater, more meaningful things than to frame walls, pour concrete, hang drywall , and run plumbing.

So this verse is given as an illustration. Obviously a house is normally the dwelling place of a family, and hopefully that house becomes a home. God is telling us, not only that He is capable of building a marriage, a family, or even a home; but that it is of utmost importance that He is the one that does it. We are told that our efforts would be futile, and our time would be wasted to try to do so without the Lord. The point here is that man can build a house, but only the Lord can build a strong home.

Maybe you’re reading this today, and feel that you have been exhausting yourself trying to build a strong family or marriage, and yet the pieces just don’t seem to be fitting together. I have learned that they never will, until we let God take over.

I encourage you today to go to God in prayer, humbling yourself, and admitting your inability to build anything. Take a few moments and tell God that He owns the house, and only He can build it. It really doesn’t matter what shape it might be in right now, God is in the restoration business. He can restore your your house.

HE IS ABLE TO BUILD YOUR HOUSE!
