I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO BUILD THE HOUSE (part 2)

Psalm 127:1. “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it:”

As we discussed yesterday, man can build a house, but only God can build a home.

I find it interesting when looking closely at this verse, that God makes one thing clear. Man can labor, but only God can build. As you know, there is a big difference. I am not a mechanic. There are a handful of things I certainly understand and can do when it comes to cars. But if somebody brought me a car that had no engine, and then brought me an engine, I could labor hard for months but I would not ever be able to build a car that ran. Oh I could vigorously labor, but it would be in vain.

Our churches are full of families and marriages in which everyone involved is working hard, laboring, and doing everything they know to do, but it is all in vain without the Lord. In fact they are totally worn down, exhausted, and frustrated. They still have the same, if not more, problems than when they started.

I also noticed in this verse that those who labor in vain actually do build a house. Many of us have been taught from this verse that except the Lord builds the house there will be no house. That’s not what the verse teaches. The verse says “they labour in vain that build IT”. An individual can labor and work without the Lord, and eventually they will build something. In fact, I’ve seen a lot of marriages that were built without the Lord. I’ve seen many families that were built without the Lord. There are, “spiritually speaking”, houses all over the place that are being built without the Lord. And trust me, you can see the difference.

You have heard I’m sure, that when it comes to buying a house, you get what you pay for. The house is really only as good as the builder who built it. It’s difficult to use a bad builder, and end up with a good house. If we try to build our house, it will never be any stronger than we are. I do not know about you, but I need God to make my home and family and marriage stronger than I am.

TRUST ME. LET GOD DO THE BUILDING!
