I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO REWARD YOUR FAITH (part 4)

Matthew 9:27-31
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

THEIR DEMEANOR
Notice the humble spirit that these two men displayed when they cried “have mercy on us”. “Mercy” here is the same Greek word as “compassion” in Jude 22.

THE SAME MERCY THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
* Jude 22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:

THE SAME MERCY THAT FORGIVES
* I Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Where would you and I be without God’s mercy?

THE SAME MERCY THAT SAVES
* I Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; 13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. 16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

THE SAME MERCY THAT ENABLES
* II Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

We should be extremely grateful today for the mercy of God. If you noticed these men were blind, and yet they did not scream out for God to heal their eyes. They cried out for God to have mercy. They did not just want healing, they wanted God’s forgiveness. May we have that kind of spirit today!
