I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO DO SOMETHING NEW
Isaiah 43:16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; ……. 18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?………
It is miraculous what the Lord did, parting the waters of the Red Sea. We are so accustomed to talking about it that maybe sometimes we forget how miraculous it was. Maybe sometimes we forget how miraculous our God is, that is easy to do. We become consumed with our present problems. We have some bills that it would take a miracle to pay, family issues that seem impossible, and personal burdens that we are crumbling under. In the middle of all that, we forget that God parted the waters of the Red Sea. He literally created a wall of water on both sides and a path of dry land the entire way across a large body of water. I mean, it wasn’t damp on the ground when they walked across. It must have been incredible, and yet God told them to forget about it, and move on. What? God told them not to even take the time to consider that right now because it is time to focus on the future.
God says, “Behold, I will do a new thing”. Even though God had done miraculous things in the past, God still has some miraculous things to do in the future. I guess God is letting us know that if we are not careful, we can be consumed with the things God has done in the past and overlook that God still wants to do miraculous things in the future. We want to just sit around and talk about what God has done, instead of getting up, going on, and seeing what God will do in the future. Please do not get me wrong. I’m not saying we should not give God praise for what he has done in our life. I am saying that God’s word teaches that we cannot please God unless we exercise faith. Sitting around and doing nothing but talking of the past does not require faith. Continuing to trust what God will do in the future requires faith.
God wants to do a new thing in your life. God wants to perform new miracles. God wants to accomplish new milestones, answer new prayers, and part new waters in your life. Even Paul said:
* Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I encourage you today, let God do a new thing in your life!
