BIBLE READING 1 Peter 2
1 Peter 2:4-7
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
I want to point out one word that is mentioned 3 times in these verses. The word is precious.
Verse 4 & 5 says He is precious to God. Verse 7 says he is precious to believers. Christ should be precious to us.
Verse 6 says “and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded” That means not ashamed.
How do these things correlate?
My wife is precious to me. I desire to take her with me everywhere. I’m not ashamed to tell people she’s my wife. It’s because my love and appreciation for her goes deep. Believers should feel the same about Christ. We should take Him everywhere we go and not be ashamed to talk about Him and include Him.
If Christ is precious to us, we won’t be ashamed; and if He’s not, we will be.
Is he precious to you today?
