I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO SEND FORTH MERCY AND TRUTH

Psalm 57:3 He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.

“GOD SHALL SEND FORTH HIS MERCY”
Psalm 106:1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

You and I really have no concept of what “forever” is really like. Everything in our life is temporary. We that are saved know that we will live forever in heaven with the Lord. We know that God has always existed and will exist forever. We believe that those who die without trusting in Christ will be in hell forever. Along with all that, it is an amazing thing to us that God‘s mercy will endure “forever”.

We need God’s mercy. It is interesting to me that when David cries out for help, and when David cries out to be saved from danger, God sends His mercy. Before you and I get bent out of shape with being the victim, may we remember how undeserving we are for God to do anything for us.

* Lamentations 3:21 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

In other words, it is the mercy of God that is displayed when God does anything for us. Anytime He saves us from any situation, it is a picture of His mercy. For God to save me from hell, He had to send down His mercy. For God to save me from sin, He must display His mercy. When God saves me from myself, my enemies, and my circumstances, He is sending His mercy. It is a good thing that God’s mercy will last forever, because we will need it forever.

“GOD SHALL SEND FORTH…HIS TRUTH”
This word “truth” is a Hebrew word meaning “stability”. When you and I are in danger, in a desperate situation, or crying out for help, it can cause us to be very confused. It can work on our minds. This doubt can begin to attack what we believe. We begin to wonder what is really true and trustworthy. When David is desperate and needs help, God sends “His truth”. That is why God says:

* John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

God sends truth, because that is what is needed for you and I to really be free. The truth of God’s Word is what gives us strength in desperate situations. The truth of God’s Word is what comforts us when we are confused. The truth of God’s Word is what saves us from the reproach of individuals that would swallow us up. Mercy and truth always go together.

* Proverbs 3:3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
* Proverbs 16:6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged:
* Proverbs 20: 28 Mercy and truth preserve the king:
