BIBLE READING 1 Peter 5
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
The one attribute of our Savior that surprises me the most is humility. He is the creator of the world, and he sustains all creation by his power yet he humbled himself. Phillippians 2:7 says “and took upon him the form of a servant.” If anyone deserved to be prideful it was Him. He chose to live homeless in order to give us a home. He chose to live without riches so He could give us riches. And He chose to die to give us life. What humility.
It is no surprise that God resists the proud. Pride is what caused the fall of Satan, and then man. Pride destroys our relationship with God and others. God tells us to live humble. In our heart and mind put others needs above ours. He says when we do that, we can cast our care on Him. Let’s follow His example and live humbly today.
