Proverbs 19:2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
A few years ago my family expanded from four to five. My wife and I had a small car and a truck. We did not have a vehicle large enough to carry us all at one time. We needed to purchase a larger vehicle. We decided on our budget and began looking around.
One day we found a van in our price range that was available but were told others were interested in as well. We quickly went to meet the individual to look at it. It was drizzling mildly when went to look at it. We test drove it, and took it to a mechanic to look it over and found no problems. So, we went ahead and purchased it. Not long after we realized our hasty decision was not wise. The van was scratched up which we couldn’t see in the rain and we found we couldn’t pump gas into it. After several hundred dollars of repairs we were able to use it.
This passage tells us not to hurry to make decisions. We can get ourselves in positions God never meant for us to be in. Psalms 37:7 says, “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
God knows our needs and promises to provide, we just need to wait on him. When we wait on Him it always works out better than when we try to make things happen ourselves.
