I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO RECEIVE THE GLORY BY US (part 2)

II Corinthians 1:18
But as God is true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. 19 For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

“All the promises of God in Him”. Everything in God was manifested in Jesus Christ. The promises of God are only as strong as Jesus Christ. If Jesus failed, then God failed. If Jesus failed, then God’s Word failed. Everything of, in, and through God was wrapped up in Jesus. Jesus was all God, but He was also all man. If Jesus sinned, then Jesus could not save. If Jesus could not save, then God’s promise of the Messiah would fail. If God’s promises fail, then everything fails. If that were the case, this would be a waste of time to read this devotional. It would be a waste of time to read God’s Word. But “all the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him Amen”. I don’t know about you, but I say Amen to that also.

Now we are getting close to my main thought. This is all done “unto the glory of God”. Everything should be done to the glory of God. No one else, and nothing else should get any glory except for God. Jesus came to glorify the Father. We are here to glorify God the Father and Jesus the Son. You see, the purpose of our life here on earth is for Christ to get the glory “by us”. How can sinners create glory for God? How can we as fleshly, failing humans bring glory to God? Trust me, we do not make it easy. The way we give glory to God, is when people see Christ in us. As Christ came to glorify the Father, when people see Christ in us, God is glorified. Is it not amazing that our life can do something as important as glorifying God. The Creator of the heavens, the earth, every living thing, and even us can be glorified by wretched sinners. What an honor. What a privilege. How wonderful that we can cast a spotlight upon our Savior so others can see Christ. That is what giving glory is. It is drawing the attention of others to Christ. Just like shining a spotlight.

How mindful we should be every day of living and acting in a way that will cast a spotlight upon Christ to everyone we come in contact with. Christ did so much to save us, and sanitize us, and sanctify us. And now Christ waits to see if we will use our new found redemption and freedom to glorify ourselves, or glorify Him.

I encourage and challenge us today to do everything “unto the glory of God by us”. AMEN!
