I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO LOVE ME TO THE END (part 3)

JOHN 13:1 Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end

“HAVING LOVED HIS OWN”

Here is Jesus, His mind filled with thoughts of impending suffering, but His heart filled with unending love. As Jesus sits there, He is not just the physical manifestation of love, He is love. He is perfect love. Jesus loved people that did not love Him back. Jesus loved people that did not deserve it. Jesus loved people that nobody else would love. Jesus loved the unlovable. God loved us enough to send His Son, Jesus. Jesus loved us enough to come. God loved us enough to give us His Son. Jesus loved us enough to give us His life. Notice these verses:

I John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Jesus did just love us, He loved us “unto the end”. He followed through. He kept His promise. When He gave up the ghost, the Bible said Jesus uttered “it is finished”. Many people love temporarily, but few love to the end. We have marriages where one spouse will love till they find someone else. They love until they become discontent. They love until they decide they want a change. Pure love always demands sacrifice. No one ever sacrificed as much for their love as Jesus did. “He loved them unto the end.”

What is so wonderful is that the love of Christ still has not ended. He is still loving us. The end has not come yet. He died on the cross, but He arose from the grave. That the means the end has not come yet. Jesus is still loving us. In fact Hebrews tells us that Jesus “ ever liveth to make intercession for them”. That is great news because in John chapter eleven we are told “26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”.

I want to encourage you today with the promise that Jesus loves you no matter what. Even if you fail and even if you fall, He loves you. That evening Jesus knew His hour was come, but He died for us anyway. He loves us anyway. Despite how unworthy or ungrateful we were, He still died for us. And “Because He Lives” for us, “I Can Face Tomorrow”. Because Jesus loved me enough then to die for me, I know He loves me enough today to live for me. If God hasn’t stopped loving me yet, why would He quit now. I am persuaded that He is able to love me to the end!
