BIBLE READING: Ephesians 3
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
I think sometimes we all have issues with trying to determine how to properly pray for someone that we love that is in need. Be it when we pray for our children, a fellow church member, a family member, or someone that we do not even know. People will often say “I need prayer”. They probably have good reason for not going into all the details, but how do we pray for them?
We are given a bit of insight in these three verses. Paul was writing to a group of people, most of whom he knew, and yet some of them he did not. Paul loved them and had a God given burden for them. As Paul would not know everything that was going on in their lives, he certainly knew of some things that were going on as he wrote to this church at Ephesus. So, Paul tells us how he was going to specifically pray.
* For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
I think this is a wonderful thing to pray for those you love, and for those you are burdened about today. Pray that God would strengthen their inner man. Ask God, through the work of the Holy Spirit, to strengthen your loved one today. Ask God to strengthen your children today, that God would help them to be strong enough to make wise decisions. Pray for your wayward child today, that the Holy Spirit would strengthen their desire to come back to the Lord. Vast is the riches of God’s glory. There is plenty to go around. You have not because you ask not. Now we know what to ask for, so let’s do it by faith, according to His riches, by the work of His Spirit.
