BIBLE READING: ROMANS 13

1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

All of us are subject to someone. It is just part of life. We are supposed to have enough character to be willing to submit to those who are in higher authority than us. This is the system that God has ordained. Now do not misunderstand. I am not saying that God is pleased with everything that leaders do. I am not saying that God is behind everyone in high positions. I am sure sometimes God is not pleased. God might not ordain what some leaders do, but God has ordained authority.

You see, if we cannot subject ourselves to the authority over us here on earth, we probably will not submit to God’s authority either. Earthly authority is simply a representation of God‘s authority. That’s why God ordained it. We all need to submit to authority because we all need to submit to God.

It is easy for us to rebel against authority positions in our life because we disagree, I don’t respect, get frustrated with, etc. I encourage you as the child of God today, understand that the authorities that have been put in your life have been put in there by God. Submit to “them”, so that you will learn to submit to “Him”.
