I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO MAKE US WHOLE (part 6)
John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
Jesus displayed Grace because He CHOSE this man. Jesus displayed Love because He CARED for this man.
Jesus knew his wretched condition and He still cared for him. Jesus knew all there was to know about this man. He knew that he had infirmity. He knew that he was helpless, but Jesus looked beyond his problems and saw his great need. Jesus did not see what he was, but what he could be through His powerful touch!
Jesus knows all of our faults, by the way. Jesus knows our shortcomings, our infirmities, our past, our mistakes, and our weaknesses. Jesus knows that you and I are helpless without Him, even if you and I do not realize that yet. Jesus knows we have no chance without His help, even if we have overlooked that little detail. Is it not interesting that of all those people there that day, Jesus cared for the person that had absolutely nothing to offer Jesus? He had nothing that Jesus needed, but Jesus had everything that he needed.
• II Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Jesus does not care about us because of what we can do, or even what we can do for Him. Jesus loves us for who we are, all the infirmities included. You see, it is not about what we can do, it is about what Jesus can do. Jesus stopped by this man, because this man was humble enough to receive help. This man had no problem relying on someone else. This man had tried on his own for thirty-eight years, only to be where he had always been. A lot of folks came with problems over those years that ended up leaving with healing. Yet here he laid. Jesus stopped here because this man wanted help. Do you want help today? Have you been trying and working desperately only to end up in the exact same place? Have you seen others enter into a fruitful relationship with Christ, while you are still in a defeated, struggling mode in your Christian walk? Maybe Jesus is just waiting until you realize that you have no chance of changing your present condition without Jesus. Maybe you have been disappointed and maybe it is time to be desperate. Just maybe it is time to take a dip in the pool.
