I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO MAKE US WHOLE (part 5)
John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
We have looked pretty closely at this “man”, but it is time to look closely at the “Master”. It is true that we need to be more mindful of people, and more aware of others. It is also true that we need to be more aware of our Savior, and notice more of His miraculous, healing power.
It is interesting to me here that Jesus chose this man. Verse five says a “certain man”. There were a number of other people there that day. There were a number of people there every day. Many of whom had needs, and various infirmities. In fact, the Bible says there was a “great multitude” there that day. Jesus could have stopped at anyone’s bed where they were laying, but he stopped by this man. This is what we call “God’s Grace”. I often think of how blessed I was to have the parents that I had, the upbringing that I had, and the privilege of serving God in the ministry. There is not one thing I’ve done to deserve any of that, it is just God’s grace. Any of us could claim that. If all of us could sit down and talk of all of God’s blessings in our life, we would have to wonder “why us?”. That’s the wonderful thing about His grace. We may never know why he chose each of us to bless us like He has but I am grateful for it. The book of Ephesians has something to say about this:
• Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
You see, the Grace of God was here before you and I were here. God saw us before we were seen by anyone. Why not take a minute today to thank God for His blessings with which He chose to bless you. Thank God for Christian parents if you had them. Thank God for a good church to go to if you go to one. Thank God for a Christian husband or wife if you been blessed with one. Everything in your life was given to you because of the grace of God. All of us were lying helpless with no way to get to the “water”, but Jesus passed by. I am persuaded that He is able to choose us.
