Luke 11:34-35
The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
I like to swim. I even enjoy swimming laps. There’s only one thing that really keeps me from swimming more often (besides the exercise part) is goggles. For me they never work right. Their feel like their squishing my head, and within 5 minutes their full of water and fogged up. It’s just no fun swimming when you can’t tell if your going to run into the wall.
This passage says “when thine eye is single,” meaning our eyes or mind is focused on the Lord. When we begin our day focused on him our day will be filled with light. God gives us spiritual sight. Our thoughts, reactions, and decisions will be based on Gods wisdom.
When we begin our with darkness it’s not the same. I’m not saying you wake up thinking wicked thoughts. I believe when we begin our day apart from Christ we don’t have spiritual sight. We are living in darkness like when you swim with fogged up goggles.
I encourage you to start today meditating on Gods word and take it with you throughout the day.
