I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO FIGHT FOR ME (part 2)

Joshua 23:10 One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.

We have already learned what a great advantage God has over any enemy when God is fighting for us. As further information is given in verse ten, there are some important things that God points out

First, God makes it clear that He is our God. If I can explain, He is not our safety valve. He is not our servant. He is not our general that we call to do battle whenever we feel we need additional fire power. He is not our designated hitter, and God is not a player coming off the bench. He is God. We are not in charge, He is. We do not call the shots, He does. Just so we understand. He is God, which means we aren’t!

Second, we are told that God fights for us, not with us. God does not need our help, or our involvement. And God definitely does not need our input. The more we get involved, the more we mess up things. God has never lost a battle, we have lost many of them. Who is more qualified to be in charge? Who has the better track record? We tend to fight battles, God tends to win them.

Third, this is something that God has already promised to do. We should not have to be told every time we face a battle that we need to let God fight it. When God makes a promise, it is so trustworthy, that it is as if it has already happened. That is what faith is. When God promised to fight our battles for us, it’s as if He has already fought before the battle has even taken place. And since God has never lost a battle, and never will, our battles have already been won before they ever even showed up. The only thing that could get in the way of that is us. God has already given the victory, if we will just stay out of the way and let God do what He already promised He would do.

So the moral of the story is, LET GOD BE GOD.
