I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO NEVER FAIL ME (Part 1)
Joshua 23:14 ”…and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.”
One of the first things that jumps out to me in this verse is the four words “all the good things”. The two words that make it complete is, “concerning you”.
Hasn’t God done countless “good things”, “concerning you”? Is there any way to list them all? Is there any way to describe them all? Is there any way to count them all? Is there any way we could ever deserve them all? Is there any way we could ever deserve even one of them? I know, it is a lot of questions. But they are questions we should be asking. There are some other questions maybe we should be asking.
Question 1:
Since God has done so many good things for me, how many good things have I done for Him?
It is a fair question isn’t it? Do we not often become disoriented, disillusioned, and discouraged because we feel God has not done a certain thing for us? What if God became upset every time He noticed something we didn’t do for Him?
Question 2:
Since God has done so many good things for me, why am I not more grateful?
I don’t think any of us have a good answer for that. I guess we all somewhat hang our heads and reply, “I don’t know“. Do we not teach our children to be grateful for the things that we and others do for them? Do we not become upset when we realize that gratitude is missing in our children? I wonder how God feels.
Question 3:
Since all of the things that God has done for me are “good things”, how could I ever question what He does in my life?
I encourage you, for the rest of the day, to try to answer that one!
