Today’s reading Matthew 14:22-36
Last time I got to share with you we started talking about the role Jesus plays in the “storms of life” in particular the storms of perfection, the storms that come even when I’m doing the will of God. Day 1 we made the point that He brought me here.
-Day 2 He is praying for me (verse 23)-
This entire scene in Matthew 14 while the disciples are on a ship is a picture of the church. We’re here out on the storms of life while Jesus is in Heaven making intercession for us (Rom 8:34) He saw the disciples the entire time. He wasn’t on the boat this time with them, but He was aware of the situation. I believe He was praying for His disciples, praying for their faith that it would not fail. Can I say that Jesus knows our burdens, He knows our pain, our weaknesses, our doubt. In fact we’re told in scripture that He feels them with us (Hebrews 4:14-16)
If you knew Jesus was in the next room praying for you, praying for you specifically to face this storm with courage and faith, would it give you courage and faith to endure this storm? I’m sure that it would. He is in Heaven now interceding and praying for you specifically whatever you’re facing today. He sees your need, He knows your fears, and He is in control of the situation.
