Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;
So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
In my personal devotions I have been studying the process of obtaining wisdom. For the next few devotions I will be sharing some of the truths that God has shown me. I hope they will be a blessing to you.
This passage tells us an important part of obtaining wisdom. Verse 4 say “if thou seekest her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures.” This is an excellent description of the book of Proverbs. For sake of illustration Proverbs is like a silver mine. You can go to a mine and find a piece of silver in a creek bed, but if you want to obtain enough silver to change your life you need to dig deep into the ground. This process takes time, patience, and effort. If we rush through our time in our Bible and still expect get great riches, we will be disappointed. However, the Bible does say that those who put in the effort will find what they are looking for. I want to encourage you today to ask God to give you wisdom and I would encourage you to start digging into Proverbs really looking for the treasure God has placed into it.
