I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO ESTABLISH HIS OWN GOVERNMENT (part 2)

Isaiah 9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: ………. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

So, we discussed last devotion about the promise of the coming government that Jesus will establish. We discussed that Jesus, according to this passage, will CARRY this government, CONTINUE His Kingdom, and bring CALM through His rule.

As we continue today, let us start with the promise that Jesus will CONTROL His kingdom. It says He will “order it”. That means that Jesus will give the order and keep the order. Jesus will govern His government. Things will be done right, honest, and pure.

Then Jesus will CONSTRUCT the kingdom, “to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever”. Jesus will make the right judgement calls as He establishes ever part of the infrastructure of His kingdom. He will pass “judgement” but will do it with “justice”. Wouldn’t it be great to be judged by a judge that always rules with justice and honesty?

Jesus will Establish His rule with CONSISTENCY. It says, “henceforth even forever”. Whatever God does is forever. God never changes.

* Proverbs 24: 21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

And the icing on the cake, which is the last phrase. “The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.” This reminds us that Jesus will CONQUER to establish His government. There are no making concessions to other kings or trade agreements to other dignitaries. Jesus will be in charge and in control. And when this happens, “his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

This has been just a brief reminder that our present culture and circumstances will one day crumble through the construction of a new kingdom, and a rightful King. He will rule and reign in judgement, justice, and righteousness. Enjoy that reminder today.
