I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO KEEP MY HEART FROM BEING TROUBLED (part2)

John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Many disappointments trouble our minds. We covered some of those yesterday. We will cover one more here in this devotion. We have discussed disappointments in people, circumstances, and even in ourselves. There is one more I have seen in my life and in the lives of others.

4) Disappointment in God troubles our minds. Yes, I said it. We get disappointed with God. We do not understand some things that He does. We do not understand some things that He allows. We do not understand some things that He has not done. We just do not understand Him sometimes. Here are imperfect people trying to understand a perfect God. We are sinners trying to understand a sinless God. It is a perfect storm for disappointment. We cannot control anything, and God controls everything. It only seems to make sense then, that when things happen that we don’t like, we get frustrated with the creator. When our minds become troubled because we are disappointed with God, that will create issues.

The Bible covers this subject periodically. One verse that completely describes what “troubled minds” can do to an individual is this verse:

*          Proverbs 18:14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

Who can handle the burden of having a mind so troubled, that it wounds our spirit? That is what a troubled mind can do. It begins to wound us so deeply that we want to withdraw from people, family, and even church. We have no desire to get in the Word of God, nor the House of God.

Please listen closely. Here is my point: TROUBLED MINDS GRADUALLY BECOME TROUBLED HEARTS. God says that there will be things that trouble our minds, but we do not need to let our “hearts be troubled”. How do we do that? He answers, “ye believe in God, believe also in me”. Troubled minds turn into troubled hearts when we fail to trust the sovereignty and strength of God. As things trouble our mind, we must remind ourselves that God knows where things are going, and He knows what we are going through. Let me remind you of this verse:

*          Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
