I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO BE MY SONG (part1)

II SAMUEL 22:  1 And David spake unto the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:

Let me make this statement:

*          NOT EVERY BELIEVER CAN SING A SONG, BUT EVERY BELIEVER SHOULD HAVE A SONG TO SING

God had done so much for David that all David knew to do was to try to put it all in a song. This chapter is that song. I do not know about you, but I believe that God probably really enjoyed this song. God was David’s song. A song is simply the expression of our heart put to words. I would like to share with you some of the “lyrics” to this song. As we discuss them, maybe you and I can write our “song” to the Lord. Maybe some of these should be our lyrics.

“2 And he said, The LORD is my rock”

This means that God is able to be our “STABILITY”. Rocks don’t give in. They don’t even give. It doesn’t matter how strong the wind might be blowing, it is not going to move a large boulder. We give in, move, sway, lean, shake, and at times fall. David knew all about that. David had fallen a few times as all of us have. David also knew that despite his ups and downs, God had been his “rock”. God stays the same. God doesn’t change. God is stable.

“2 And He said, The Lord is…my fortress”

This means that God is able to be our “SAFETY”. A fortress provides protection. David had been on the run a few times in his life as we have discussed in earlier devotions. David needed protection. And so, do we. How could we thank God enough for His protection? Each of us could write an entire song about God’s protection in our life. Most of God’s protection we will never see. God is our fortress during times that we are not even aware of the danger. By the way, the strongest fortresses were built out of rock.

“ 2 ….and my deliverer;”

This means that God is able to be our “SAVIOR”. How many times did God deliver David? Enough for David to write a song about it. How many times has God delivered me and you? Enough that we should acknowledge it more than we do. God delivered us from Satan, delivered us from sin, and delivered us from ourselves. I heard this quote, though I cannot find the author to give credit to, I want to share it: “God wants to deliver us from what we have done, and what has been done to us. Both are important to God.”
