I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:
TO KNOW MORE
Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? 14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.
1. NO ONE CONTROLS GOD
“Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord”?
No one tells God what to do. No one gives God directions. That includes you and me by the way. I think too often our prayer life becomes a command center to tell God what needs to be done. God knows what needs to be done more than we do, and God knows how to do it.
2. NO ONE COUNSELS GOD
“Or being his counsellor hath taught Him? 14 With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him.” God has never had to come ask anyone what He should do in a particular situation. God has never been puzzled. God has never been confused. God has never needed instruction and He has never had to sit down and talk to someone to figure out what is going on. God has never had a mentor, or someone that He looked up to. He does not have someone that He calls for advice. God does not have questions, He only has answers.
3. NO ONE COERCES GOD
“Who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?” No one convinces God to think on their terms. No one convinces God of their philosophy or way of thinking. God is not manipulated. God is all knowing and does not need our help to understand.
4. NO ONE COMPARES TO GOD
“15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.”
“A drop in the bucket”, what a phrase. God is bigger, better, stronger, wiser, over, above, greater, smarter, and wiser. The sum of all the nations on earth is just a drop of a bucket as compared to God. This is just a reminder today of God’s place, and our place. He is above us, and we are below Him. He is limitless, and we are limited. May we not forget that today.
