BIBLE READING: Habakkuk 2:15-20
“But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.” Habakkuk 2:20
The summer after my 6th grade year, I got to spend two weeks up in Lynchburg, VA with my grandpa. He did a lot of self-contracting work with different houses and properties in the area. So, I got to spend a lot of time just the two of us as he did maintenance and work. My grandpa was a very godly man. I have never seen someone with a prayer life like him. During the two weeks, he taught me some valuable lessons from God’s Word. He told me a little bit of what he was like before he got saved, and how God had changed his life. How it is not worth chasing things on the earth but only following the Lord and what He has for your life. That is what we are reminded of today. God warns Habakkuk of turning to false idols and wasting one’s life. When we should be worshipping the Lord. Sometimes it can be easy to get distracted. When our sole focus is the Lord in our life, He can keep us on the right path. When is the last time you or I stopped and worshipped the Lord for who is? So, we can thank Him for who He is and what He has done for us. Let us be reminded today to not be distracted by false idols the world can offer but focus on the only One that truly matters!
