BIBLE READING: 2 Thessalonians 1:3
[3] We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
Thanksgiving is just a week away, and I don’t know about you, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I know what you’re thinking, “it’s all the food you get to eat Frank”…..Well honestly, yes that’s part of it, but I also love how laid back it is compared to Christmas. It’s good for us to reflect on the goodness of God in our lives. For the next couple of days I want to focus on some things that we can be thankful for. Verse 3 talks about some people in Paul’s life that he felt obligated (that’s what that word bound means in vs 3) to say thank you to. I’ve been accused of writing devotions that are too long (I’m talking about you Miss Dot) but if I were to write down all of the people I owe a HUGE thank you too you’d still be reading this devotion tomorrow. This verse made me think of all those people that have had a significant impact in my life. My parents must be at the top of that list for sure. I have the best set of parents anyone could ask for. Pastor Hawtree is another person I’m so thankful for. He was my youth pastor, and he’s one of my spiritual heroes. I’ve learned so much from him (good and bad, but we’ll only reflect on the good) As I think about it, God has placed so many people in my life at just the right time to help shape me into whom I am today. Who came to your mind while reading this? Take a moment to thank God for them, and then if you’re able maybe tell them about it too.
