Today’s Reading
Ruth 4:13-22
As we finish up the book of Ruth, I am so encouraged by the ending of it. The beginning of this book started out dark and gloomy. It begins with disobedience, doubt in God and His provision, death, and a funeral. Here in chapter 4 we see the culmination of the story. God has shown His faithfulness and it reveals the providence of God in how He led and guided Naomi. I am so encouraged and literally brought to tears to see how God continues to care and provide for me even when I am bitter toward Him. What an awesome God we serve! I love verse 14 “And the women said unto Naomi, Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman, that his name may be famous in Israel.”
I love the part that says Blessed be the Lord, which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman (or redeemer) That word Blessed here means an act of adoration, to kneel, to praise and worship. We should bless the Lord whether He does anything for us or not, but here we are given the reason why we should take time to praise, worship, and kneel before Him. Because He has never for one moment left us alone.
Deuteronomy 31:6
6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
I don’t know about you but I am going to take the opportunity right now to “Bless the Lord” for always being there with me and loving me even when I am at my worst.
