Psalms 4:3
But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
In my house I have a cup. This cup is different from all the other cups. It is very large. I drink a lot of water, so having a large cup keeps me from having to fill up. I am not fond of others using my cup. I keep it clean for me to use. We have many other cups they are welcome to, but this one is mine.
It is a special position to be set apart. This passage tells us that we are set apart for himself. What does that mean? I believe it means two things. First, I believe it means we have position. We didn’t earn this position. It was given to us when we put our faith in Christ. We are the Fathers. He has possession of us. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says, Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? We belong to God and He dwells in us.
Secondly, we have purpose. The purpose of the things you set aside for yourself is to bring you enjoyment. Our job as believers is to bring enjoyment to God. We can do that through several ways. We can bring enjoyment through praise, through thanksgiving, through obedience, and through sharing His love with others. It’s an awesome privilege to get to bring enjoyment to our creator and Savior.
As we have been this tremendous gift, what will we do with it? Will we ignore it? Can we today find some way to bring joy to our Heavenly Father?
