I AM PERSUADED THAT HE IS ABLE:

TO BLESS MY CHILDREN

PROVERBS 20:7 The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

We would all do anything for our children. There is nothing in our life that we love more than our children. We would go to the ends of the earth for them, take a bullet for them, sell everything we have just to try to keep them safe. There is not one earthly possessions that any of us have that we would not gladly give to help our children. Yet this verse says, though all those things are great, that the best thing we can do for our children is to have integrity.

Some would say that They are going to leave their children a large financial inheritance. They will work their whole life, spend countless hours away from their family, and rarely see their children so that they can leave a large financial inheritance. Yet how many times have we seen children that were given large financial inheritances that were miserable in their life. Leaving your children a large financial nest egg does not necessarily mean that they will be blessed.

I’ve seen parents that consistently kept their kids out of church so that they could become proficient in some sport or trade. Feeling that it is quality time they are spending with them, they ease their conscience into thinking that somehow that will benefit their child. I am here to encourage you dear friend that no matter how good they become in a sport, or expert they become in a trade, nothing will benefit them more than hearing the truth of God’s Word and seeing God‘s house as a top priority in their life.

What our children need the most from us is to see us living, acting, and conducting ourselves with integrity. They need to see honesty. They need to see us being completely truthful rather than hiding details and facts to benefit ourselves financially or otherwise. Teaching your children how to make a dollar will give them luxury, but teaching them integrity will give them life. As our children grow older, they will have the desire to be able to brag and boast of a mom and dad that conducted themselves with integrity. God says if we do that that our children will be blessed. This is a blessing that money cannot buy. This is a blessing that possessions cannot produce.

Please do not misunderstand what I’m saying. I think it is wonderful to leave your children an inheritance. It is wonderful to leave a financial inheritance, a home, or property. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I do not know if I will be able to  but I would love to do that for my sons. I’m just saying that the only way to ensure that your children will be blessed is for us parents to have integrity. It will go further than money, it will mean more than property, and it will last longer than any inheritance you could leave. May we parents reassess our priorities, and make sure that we are conducting ourselves, our business, and our relationships with integrity. Our children are watching, and so is God!
