BIBLE READING: HEBREWS 1

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Before Jesus came, God spoke to His people through prophets. When Jesus came, God’s message was given through Jesus. That is because Jesus was God. God still speaks to us through Jesus. Jesus speaks to us through the Word of God, and the indwelling Holy Spirit of God reveals to us that truth. Today, just refresher on what the Bible explains to us about Jesus:

1. JESUS IS HEIR OF ALL THINGS
This means that Jesus owns everything. If Jesus owns everything, that means that you and I own nothing. That means that we have no resources, and Jesus has unlimited resources. This means that we have needs, and Jesus has the resources to meet those needs.

2. JESUS WAS INVOLVED IN CREATION
For some reason, we often do not picture Jesus involved in creation. But Jesus was as involved as His Father was. Jesus made the “worlds”.

3. JESUS IS THE BRIGHTNESS OF GOD’S GLORY
This means that as bright as the glory of God is, Jesus has that same glory. The glory of Jesus is just as bright and powerful, because Jesus and God the Father are one.

4. JESUS IS THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF GOD
This means that there is nothing on earth that Jesus did, that God the Father would not have done, or done differently. This term “express image” is an engraving term. It means to have the exact same image. As an engraver would carve a statue to look like an individual, the Bible says that Jesus was beyond that. He was the exact image. It means He was the same.

5. JESUS UPHOLDS ALL OF CREATION WITH THE POWER OF HIS WORD
Jesus controls it all with just a word. Remember how Jesus would calm storms with one phrase. Jesus could heal a leper with just a few words. Jesus can meet your need with the same power.

6. JESUS PURGED OUR SINS
This means that Jesus completely eradicated our sin. In the eyes of God the Father, Jesus wiped away our sins so well that you cannot tell they were ever there. AMEN!
