Galatians 5
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

We know that the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. We know that we should have these as a part of our lives daily. The question is, why do we not have them more than we do?
The Bible speaks even when it doesn’t say anything. If we know what the fruit of the Spirit is, what is the fruit of not being spirit filled? Selfishness, Anxiety, Fear, Agitation, Pride, Lack of Self control, and Jealously are the fruits of the flesh. Who would willingly want to add these to their day? Without thinking we subject ourselves to them willingly. Verses 19-21 tell us of the works of the flesh. The works of the flesh are a result of the fruit of the flesh.
The character traits we possess determine the decisions we make. Romans 8:6 says, “For to be carnally minded [is] death; but to be spiritually minded [is] life and peace.” Romans 8:8 says,” So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.” As a result of living in the flesh we cannot please God no matter how hard we try.
The interesting thing is this, we get to choose how we spend our day. We can choose to live with these great qualities or with the selfish ones. It comes down to who is in control. Are we sitting on the throne of our decision making in our lives or is the Holy Spirit? As a believer the only way we can be the light that God has called us to be is to be led by the Spirit. When we are walking in the Spirit people around us will notice a difference.
I want to encourage you today to crucify the flesh and walk in the Spirit!
Jacob Jarriel
