Today’s Reading:
Psalm 57:10 KJV
[10] For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
Ephesians 2:4-5 KJV
[4] But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, [5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 3:17-19 KJV
[17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Philippians 1:6 KJV
[6] Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
We’ve been spending our time together the last couple weeks looking at how to get out of our spiritual ruts. Today we look at Principal number 4, Stop measuring God’s Love.
Do we really comprehend how much God loves us? We’ll never get out of the rut without a clear view of his endless grace and mercy towards us. These are things that can happen when we forget how much God loves us:
• guilt becomes more than we can bear
• joy takes a hike
• our love gets small
• our pain gets larger
• forget our true purpose
• fears not faith become the focus
Looks like a perfect storm for spiritual ruts doesn’t it? God’s love is beyond our understanding, greater than the heavens(Psalm 57:10.) His love gives us new life through his son Jesus(Ephesians 2:4-5.) His love can be known, but never fully understood(Ephesians 3:17-19.) God’s love will keep working in our lives until the end of time(Philippians 1:6.)
At some point, we all wonder, Do I really matter? I don’t know much about economics, but a teacher once told me that a thing is worth whatever a person is willing to pay. God paid the highest possible price, the life of his Son, Jesus. You matter!! You matter very much!! Don’t forget that.
Human love is always conditional, temporary and unstable. God’s love is dependable, he is faithful and will never stop loving us.
What does Gods love mean for you and to you personally?
