Bible Reading: Revelation 1
Revelation 1:5a
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth.
Have you ever heard the phrase “they don’t know how much you know, until they know how much you care?” This verse tells us some wonderful things about Jesus, but until it’s connected to second half it lacks something.
1. Jesus is the Faithful Witness
Jesus is God’s representation on earth. He is the physical being of God. And whatever he said is God’s words. This passage tells us that He is the faithful witness. He lived it with his message, life, miracles, death, and resurrection.
2. Jesus is the first begotten from the dead
This is saying Jesus is the first person to be raised from the dead by His own power and that He will never die again. Lazarus was given a reprieve from death, others were raised from the dead, but only Jesus never died again.
3. Jesus is the Prince of the Kings of the Earth
He is the ruler over all authorities in the earth. All have their rule come from him. They are all subject to Him. He can remove anyone and add anyone at His pleasure.
These are all great, but how does that impact me?
Revelation 1:5b Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
This faithful God, who doesn’t lie, who is victorious over death, and who rules the world LOVES YOU!
As a married couple can feel secure in the love they have for one another, we can be secure as Christians in the love we have for Christ and that He loves us back. Can you spend today meditating on how much God loves you, and if you get the opportunity share it with someone else?
