BIBLE READING: I Corinthians 7
17 But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called every one, so let him walk.
There are some wonderful spiritual lessons in this short verse.
1. GOD HAS GIVEN GIFTS TO EVERY PERSON
I don’t know whether you think you are or are not “gifted”, but I’m letting you know today that you are. God has “distributed” physical, mental, and spiritual “gifts” to each person. It does not matter your ethnic background, your geographical background, or your spiritual background. It does not matter your educational ability, your physical ability, or even your financial resources. God has given you specific abilities and gifts in your life.
2. GOD HAS CALLED EVERYONE TO SERVE
Every one of these “gifts” that God has placed in your life are there for a purpose. They are there to enable you to do what God has called you to do. This passage teaches that God has called “everyone”. I’ve often heard people say that “God just hasn’t called me”. It is true that God has not called every person to do the same thing, but God has called every person. Our job is to figure out what God has called us to do, and to do it.
3. GOD WANTS EVERY PERSON TO STEP OUT BY FAITH
When Paul says, “so let him walk”, Paul is saying that we must believe that God has called us, and we must believe that God has given us the necessary gifts to perform that calling. We will not step out, until we believe by faith that God has done those things. When I refuse to step out in an area of service that I feel God has called, it is a sign that I do not have faith that God has done His part. You see, we will do our part if we are convinced that God has done His part.
Dear friend, God has called you, and God has gifted you. Today, and every day after, step out and “walk” by faith. Remember, “without faith it is impossible to please God”.
