BIBLE READING: Nehemiah 6:1-14
“And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.”
Nehemiah 6:16
Our dog Chipper is very easily distracted. It is so funny to watch him run around playing with a rope and then he books it to the window when a bird chirps, then suddenly sees a bone he hasn’t chewed on in 10 minutes. I don’t know about you, but do you ever find yourself being easily distracted? Maybe after working on a project for a while, your mind may start to drift and you think of other projects you may need to do or everything you could be doing except what your working on. Even the slightest movement or noise causes you to break your focus. Nehemiah is all most finished with the wall. All they have left are the doors on the gates, and now the plots begins. Nehemiah is faced with some hard challenges with Sanballat and Geshem trying to draw him out of the city to kill him and others trying to ruin his testimony. All Nehemiah had to do was focus on the Lord. With the many voices and temptations Nehemiah faced, his focus was kept on the Lords task. He asked for wisdom on how to handle these difficult circumstances. There may be many distractions, temptations, or difficulties you are facing. Remember, we have a God that can keep us focused and give us wisdom in time of need. After all He has the ultimate source of both of these things.
